INDUCTED 2018

North Penn High School, 2006

Brendan Fanslau is honored to be part of the 2018 class of inductees being elected into the North Penn Athletic Hall of Fame. During his time at North Penn, Brendan was fortunate to be teamed up with a talented group of swimmers, divers, water polo players and coaches. The Class of 2006 was part of 2 State Swimming Championships (2003 and 2004) as well as a Runner up State Championship (2005) and a third place finish (2006).  During their reign, the teams overall record was 51-2, as well as winning the District One Championship Meet all four years.  In addition to swimming, Brendan also participated on the water polo team where North Penn won the State Championship in 2004, as well as Runner up State Champions in 2002 and 2005. The overall record during those years was 95-13.

Brendan began his swimming career with the Towamencin Swim Team and soon transitioned into year round swimming with the North Penn Aquatic Club. In 2002, Brendan joined the North Penn High School Swimming and Water Polo teams.  Little did anyone imagine the impact that Brendan would have on both programs.  By the end of his career, Brendan was a 5 time NISCA All American Swimmer,  2006 State Champion in 100 Freestyle, 7 Time All State 1st Team Swimmer, 2006 District 1 Swimmer of the Meet, 6 Time District 1 Champion, NISCA All American Water Polo Player, 3 Time All State Water Polo Player, 2005 Mr. Water Polo (Best Water Polo player in the state) and a 7 season letter winner.  Brendan also showed great leadership being named captain of both teams in his senior year.

Brendan played an integral role in the swim team’s success by being a State qualifier his Sophomore, Junior and Senior years. During his sophomore year he was a key member of all three relays including a Silver in the 200 Medley Relay and a Bronze in both the 200 and 400 Freestyle Relays.  He also placed 10th in the 100 Freestyle.  These three relays and his points in the 100 Free were the foundation of the Team Title in 2004.  During his junior year, he continued his success by taking 7th in the 200 Medley Relay, 4th in the 200 Free Relay and 5th in the 400 Free Relay.  He also placed 9th in the 100 Freestyle.  These three relays and his points from the 100 Free were also the foundation of the Runner Up Team Title in 2005.  During his senior year, he won the state championship in the 100 Freestyle and his Bronze in the 200 Freestyle broke the team record.  Once again he was a key member of the 200 Free Relay placing 9th and the 400 Free relay placing 4th.  His extraordinary effort helped his team place 3rd at the 2006 State Championships.

Brendan also played an integral role in the water polo team’s success.  He used his speed and athleticism to help our team achieve major success during his tenure.  During his freshman year, he helped lead the JV team to the Novice State Championship.  As a sophomore he became a starter and helped lead his team to a 3rd place finish at states while earning All State recognition.  As a junior he helped the team win the 2004 State Championship while earning 1st Team All State honors.  As a senior, he was named Mr. Water Polo, which recognizes him as the best player in the state of Pennsylvania.  His high level of play led his team to the 2005 State Runner up Champion.

Upon graduation from North Penn in 2006, Brendan swam at West Chester University. He was a member of the 2007-2010 PSAC conference champions as well as the 2008 NCAA Division II third place team finish. In 2008, he was also a member of the 800 free relay that finished as Division II National champions. In 2011, Brendan graduated from West Chester University with an undergraduate degree in Professional Studies and two minors in Health and Coaching.

After graduating from West Chester, Brendan coached high school aged swimmers at Golden Rams Aquatics while working for Alere Inc. as a Health Advisor. He currently works for Optum Health as a Lifestyle Coach in which he supports clients achieve their health and wellness goals.

Today, Brendan lives with his wife Nicole in Souderton, PA and they have two children, Savannah (2.5 years) and Austin (4 months).
