North Penn Girls 2011 Water Polo Team
North Penn’s 2011 Girls Water Polo Team faced mid-state rival Wilson High School (West Lawn) in the finals of the PA State Water Polo Championship. This was the third time in four years the two programs faced off in the championship game with the Knights prevailing once again, 9-7.
Throughout their 2011 campaign, the Girls Water Polo team dominated Pennsylvania team’s compiling a 26-0 record. The team’s only blemish was a 10-9 defeat to Ohio state power Upper Arlington at the Beast of East Tournament, one of the largest water polo tournaments in the US. The Knights completed the season with an overall record of 28-1 and established themselves as the premier team in the state of Pennsylvania.
Led by captains Brooke Else and Alex Kajari the team captured the Suburban One League title, the Eastern Conference title and as previously noted, the Pennsylvania State Title. Brooke Else, Alex Kajari, Brittany Patterson, Aspen Trautz, and Jen Halcovage received All-State honors. In addition, Brook Else became the second girl in the program's history to be named “Miss Water Polo,” Pennsylvania Water Polo Player of the Year.
The success of the girl’s water polo program is a direct result of the team’s dedication and work ethic. In addition, the girls consistently challenge themselves and their teammates to reach their full potential in and out of the pool. As a result, numerous girls have been fortunate to continue their water polo career at the D1, D2, and D3 level.
At the conclusion of the 2011-12 school year the following individuals received additional accolades. Brooke Else was named First Team All-American, Brittany Patterson was named Fifth Team All-American and Alex Kajari was named to the All-American Honorable Mention team. Congratulations to all the members of the 2011 Girls Water Polo team in assisting their teammates to achieve this honor.
The 2011 girls water polo team would like to thank the North Penn Athletic Alumni Association for recognizing their accomplishment, and to the North Penn School Board, administration, faculty, family, and friends who assisted in their success.
