North Penn High School, 1984 Derrick Luby is honored to be part of the 2019 North Penn Hall Athletic Hall of Fame. Derrick would like to thank all the coaches and teammates he had throughout the years. The class of 1984 was truly a special class. Some of my fondest athletic memories are beating CB East in 1983 for the outright Bux-Mont Football championship. Beating 1st seed Lower Merion Aces in the District 1 basketball playoffs and setting a school record in the 4X100 relay at the P.I.A.A. State meet in Shippensburg, PA. Also receiving the 1984 Genuardi’s Athlete of the year award was very special to me. Derrick received a football scholarship from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. Derrick lettered in football 1985, 1986,1987, and 1988, indoor track 1986, 1987 and outdoor track 1986. In 1986 Derrick played one half of his spring football game, left the game and ran in the 1986 All-New England Track and Field meet where he placed 6th in the 100 meters and was a member of the All New England Track and Field 4x100 meter relay team. In 1987 Northeastern University was playing the University of Connecticut in football. Derrick made a memorable play by running 35 yards to deny a running back from a touchdown. Two plays later Derrick intercepted a pass in the end zone and Northeastern University won the game. In 1988 an injury on the football field ending my athletic career. Derrick is presently a Supervisor for the U.S. Probation Department in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and resides in Tunersville, New Jersey with his family. Derrick would like to thank the North Penn Athletic Association for this honor and family and friends for their support. |
