Friday night your North Penn Knights were in a fierce battle in Doylestown against the C.B. East Patriots. But the Knights managed to hold off the Patriots 28-21.
The Knights struck first on a 5-yard run by Kevin Akins. But the Patriots struck back on a pass from East QB Bill McDonnell to a wide-open Dan McKelvy. Then the momentum appeared to swing in the Patriots favor and after a 60 yard pass, FB Joe Becker, punched it in from the one making it 14-7.
The Knights responded to coach Beck's halftime speech by scoring on their first possession and swinging the momentum back in their favor. Then the Knights defense held the Patriots on its next possession and scored again making it 21-14. But on the ensuing drive the Patriots' Brian Hogan scored tying it up again at 21.
After receiving the kickoff the Knights took their time driving down the field, led by the hard running of Kevin Akins, and slowly ate away at the clock. Jimmy Laky capped off the drive with a 31-yard sprint to the end zone putting NP up 28-21.
The Patriots started to put together a drive with their passing attack, which seemed to give the Knights' secondary trouble all night. But a clutch interception by Mike Macsoud put an end to East's drive and their hopes of winning the game.
