The Knights kicked off their season at home in the KSA Game of the Week against of the Overland Trailblazers of Colorado. Overland is currently ranked #3 in their state!

The game was exciting from start to finish as the Knights lost a heartbreaker 25-15. While the Knights defense dominated the whole game the offense could not get anything going in the first half. At half time Head Coach Dick Beck retooled the offense which seemed to work scoring a touchdown at the end of the third quarter by Pat McCourt.

The point-after-attempt was blocked, but senior quarterback Justin Wutti ran it in for a successful two point conversion. But a drive later the Trailblazers scored but while trying to tie it up, Overland was stuffed by George Farrell making the score 8-6.

On the Knights' next possession Kevin Akins punched it in from 7 yards out and after a successful extra point the score was 15-6, Knights. Overland was starting to stall and the Knights thought they had the game in control. Then the Knights offense started to sputter again. This allowed the Trailblazers to score against an over-exhausted Knights defense, the extra point was blocked by Chad Finney making the game 15-12.

Then the Knights offense fell apart after making one first down and then going 3 and out. Overland had gotten their confidence back and scored once again, but missing another extra point making the game 18-15, Trailblazers, with 59.9 seconds left on the clock.

After a good return by Deanco Oliver the Knights offense, after numerous penalties, was backed up to their 25. It all just fell apart here and after a questionable pass interference call, there was no call when there should have been one. The Knights decided to go for it on 4th and long, and Justin Wutti was intercepted and it was returned for a touchdown, sealing the Knights fate.

It was an unfortunate outcome for the Knights since they controlled the game until the last two minutes in the 4th quarter.
