Even though it was the 13th, the Knights had no trouble putting away the Harry S. Truman Tigers on Friday, 35-14. North Penn's defense took the field first and set the tone for the game. The starting defense was able to shut out Truman 35-0 in their three-quarters of play. Pat McCourt scored the first touchdown on a Truman fumble allowing the Knights to pull ahead early 7-0.
The Tigers gave the Knights a little scare in the 1st quarter when a long rush got them inside the 10, but the Knights defense would not give up the touchdown and Truman turned the ball over on downs allowing the offense to put together another drive. Quarterback Justin Wutti was 3-3 on the night.
The Knights offense scored 4 touchdowns in a row, 2 by Jim Casertano, 1 by Kevin Akins, and 1 by Jeff Ball. The offense may have put the points on the board but the defense stole the show with its incredible play. Late in the third quarter Truman appeared to have mounted a drive, but an interception by Mike Macksoud put an end to that.
Truman did score twice in the fourth quarter, once on a run and another on a long bomb. But it was too little too late as the clock ran out due to the mercy rule and the Knights recorded their first victory of the season.
Also in a game like this almost everybody got to play and this is very good for the under classmen. It gives them experience and a chance to show everybody what they got.
