Chris received the 1998 North Penn High School most outstanding junior athlete award. Chris was a team captain for football in 1999 and the North Penn High School most outstanding senior athlete award winner. He represented North Penn in the Montgomery County All-Star football game and Pennsylvania in the Big 33 All-Star game with teammate and running back Hikee Johnson. College recognition: Chris attended Pennsylvania State University on a Football Scholarship. Lettered 3 years in Football 2001, 2002 and 2003 and saw significant playing time as a true freshman in the fall of 2000. Chris was an offensive starter in 2001, 2002 & 2003 and a key contributor in the 2002 line that helped running-back Larry Johnson become the 9th player in NCAA history to rush for 2,000 yards in a single season. Chris started the Capitol One Bowl against Auburn in January of 2003 and represented Penn State in the Blue Gray All-Star game after his senior season. Chris graduated Penn State with a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Kinesiology. Professional: Was offered free-agent contracts with the Dallas Cowboys, Baltimore Ravens and New Orleans Saints and signed a contract with the New Orleans Saints in 2004. It is a little remembered fact by those that only knew Chris in high school or college that he actually began his athletic career as a swimmer with North Penn Aquatic Club, following in his brothers footsteps and started swimming competitively at the age of 5. He still holds several team and pool records in the local area. In High School Chris left swimming to pursue his own interests in Track and Field and Football. He had a passion for both sports and loved the individual competition of Track and Field and the team aspects of Football. Chris is extremely grateful to the coaches throughout the entire history of his association with North Penn. They nurtured his development as an athlete and person, at all levels from youth programs to the High School level. They played a big part in his life and imparted many valuable life lessons. He would have loved to have competed in Track and Field at Penn State, but time constraints and the grueling football schedule simply would not allow it. He has many great memories at North Penn and Penn State. Some of the most notable were breaking the shot put record at North Penn that had stood since 1967 to the football grudge matches against CB West recorded in the ESPN documentary “The Season”, to running out of the tunnel at Beaver Stadium to play in front of a national TV audience and a packed house of 109,000 against Ohio State, Michigan and others. Today, Chris is a Special Agent for Homeland Security Investigations. Chris commented, “It’s an honor to associated with such a great group of athletes and I hope I can continue to represent North Penn and the community with great pride and success” as he is honored and humbled to become a member of the North Penn Athletic Association Hall of Fame. |

Special Recognition for North Penn Girls Tennis
NORTH PENN GIRLS TENNIS
Throughout the storied history of North Penn girls tennis there have been many exceptional players and many championship teams. From their first Bux-Mont Championship in 1959, captained by Judy McCann and coached by Laura Kehler, to the undefeated team of 1970 led by State Singles medal winner Lynn Koth and coached by Dottie Ball, the team was a constant force in the Bux-Mont League, claiming five titles between 1955 and 1976. New challenges were faced when girls tennis was shifted to a fall sport beginning with the 1977 season. Still, the team continued to post strong league records and another State Singles medalist in Lisa Wagner. Building on these early successes the girls program reached its pinnacle from 1983 to 1993. During this period the girls compiled an overall won-lost record of 127 – 25 and a league record of 92 – 16. They won seven league titles, three in the Bux-Mont League: 1983, '84, and '85 and four in the Suburban I League, 1988, ‘92, '93, and '94. In four of these years, 1983, '85, '88, and '93 the team was undefeated. Three of these teams had particularly exceptional seasons and players.
1985 UNDEFEATED BUX-MONT CHAMPIONS

Led by team captains Sherri Williams, Wendy Wenhold and Leonie Arano the 1985 Maidens completed an undefeated season (15-0, 8-0) and clinched their third consecutive Bux-Mont League Championship. This team arguably had the strongest, deepest singles line-up in school history. Sherri Williams won her second consecutive gold medal in the league Singles Championship while Kristina Maxwell claimed the bronze medal. In the league Doubles Championship Wendy Wenhold and Kate Holme repeated as champions. Each of the four singles players: Williams, Maxwell, Kate Holme, and Wendy Wenhold along with the first doubles team of Julee Wenhold and Renee Narducci were undefeated in league dual match play. (Clara Chu, Amy Narducci, Amy Bradley, Jenn Caiola, Cheri Blagbrough, and Lisa Hunn also played Varsity doubles during the '85 campaign.) Combining their talents in post-season doubles play, Sherri Williams and Kristina Maxwell won the District I Doubles Championship, defeating their teammates Wendy Wenhold and Kate Holme in the tournament finals. This marked the first time in District I history that a school captured the top two spots in the District I Doubles Tournament. Sherri and Kristina would go on to win the fourth place medal in the State Doubles Tournament. (In 1986, despite a strike-shortened season that denied the team an opportunity to pursue a fourth consecutive championship, Kristina Maxwell and Kate Holme would win the District I Doubles Championship and capture the fourth place medal in the State Doubles Championship.)
1988 UNDEFEATED SUBURBAN I COLONIAL DIVISION CHAMPIONS

In 1988 the quest for another championship would not be realized unless the team was able to overcome their strongest opponent, Central Bucks West, in an epic season-ending match between two undefeated teams. (The Bucks were on a 34 match unbeaten streak dating back to Oct. 8, 1986.) It was reported that nearly three hundred spectators surrounded the North Penn courts in support of the two teams. Play was intense and for five hours both teams performed brilliantly before North Penn prevailed with a dramatic, hard fought 5 -2 victory to post their fifteenth win of the season. The Maiden's success lay in the depth of their line-up: 4th Singles Robin Morinsky finished the year undefeated as did 1st Doubles Kristin Hinz/Jenn Caiola, 2nd Doubles Pam Underwood/ Chris Eckard and 3rd Doubles Shannon Brown/Christine Buckmaster. (Monique Williams, Laurie Paul and Nicole Buckmaster played first, second and third singles respectively while Denise Murray and Leslie Kang also added individual wins during the season.) Each of the ten members of the starting line-up were named to either the first or second All-League teams. (Despite losing four seniors and failing to win the league championship, the 1989 team would finish 15 -2 and reach the semi-finals of the inaugural District I Team Championship!)
1993 UNDEFEATED SUBURBAN I COLONIAL DIVISION CHAMPIONS

There was no State Team Tennis Championship until 2000, so in 1993 the ultimate goal was to be undefeated and win the District I Team Championship. That is exactly what the '93 Maidens accomplished. After clinching their second consecutive Suburban I title, the Maidens defeated Upper Dublin, Conestoga, and Abington to reach the District I Team Championship finals where they defeated Harriton 5 ½ - 1 ½ and secured the only District I Team Tennis Championship (boys or girls) in school history. Led by the sensational play of freshman #1 Singles, Lenka Beranova, and the steady play and leadership of Alison Tweedie and Kari D'Amora, the girls won a school record 18 matches. In addition to the District I Championship, the team also won the prestigious Downingtown Invitational Team Tournament by dropping Downingtown, Radnor, and State College. Alison (2nd singles), Kari (3rd singles), and Kathy Mallon (4th singles) finished dual match competition with undefeated records. The accomplished play of doubles duos Andrea Kapusta/Joanne Nasife, Kari Holloway/Erin Lukens and Marcy Wetzel/Kelly Stock was recognized when they were named to the All League Second Team. (After losing four seniors to graduation and freshmen Beranova to the boys team, the 1994 team won a third consecutive league championship with a 10 – 1 record. The team won a total of 16 matches including a first round victory over Pennridge in the District I Team Championship. Unfortunately their season ended when Upper Dublin handed the Maidens just their second loss of the season in the quarter finals of the District I Team Championship. Only the slimmest of margins, a third set tie breaker loss at first singles, kept the Maiden's from advancing.)

From 1980 to 2004 the Maidens Head Coach was Robert Hurst; Ron Jaros was Assistant Coach from 1983-1991; Renee DiDomizio and Bill Sinkinson were Assistant Coaches in 1993 and 1994.

Greg Moyer is an award-winning television and digital media executive with deep international experience and a track record of innovation in channel design, brand positioning, programming, marketing, and global distribution. A creative and inspirational leader, Moyer built and operated esteemed brands such as Discovery Channel, TLC, Animal Planet, VOOM HD, and Food Network International. Last year Moyer founded a new company, Blue Chalk Media, which produces high quality, short-form documentary videos for distribution by journalism brands and companies wanting to show their products or services in the context of authentic storytelling. Before joining the entrepreneurial ranks, Moyer joined Scripps Networks Interactive to become the first president of Scripps Networks International. Within three years, Moyer launched the Food Network and Fine Living Network into 85 countries across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and SE Asia while significantly expanding its long-standing program sales and syndication business. He also led Scripps to acquire a 50% interest in UKTV, 10 cable and satellite channels co-owned by the BBC, and 100% of the Travel Channel International, allowing Scripps to expand its domestic Travel Channel franchise into 91 countries and 20 languages. Prior to Scripps, Moyer led VOOM HD Networks, a new business unit started by Cablevision founder Charles Dolan, designed to provide abundant HD programming across 15 cable and satellite channels in the U.S. Under Moyer’s leadership, VOOM HD also launched two pioneering HD channels into 36 countries overseas and was acclaimed for its innovative channel packaging and design. At Cablevision, the dominant cable operator serving New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, he took the newly created post of President, Regional Programming. There he was responsible for five regional news channels, five hyper-local Traffic and Weather channels, and two city-centric lifestyle and entertainment services. Moyer began his television career in 1985 as one of the first 20 employees hired at a newly launched cable service called “The Discovery Channel”. Over the span of 13 years, he led communications and marketing, then programming, then all aspects of the domestic networks, Discovery Channel and TLC. Ultimately Moyer was the first to hold the title of Chief Creative Officer where he operated as the brand steward responsible for all Discovery product development across television, retail, and digital. While in charge of programming, Discovery was honored with five George Foster Peabody Awards for programming excellence. |

North Penn’s 2006 Girls Water Team set benchmarks that future teams aspire to achieve. The 2006 squad remains the only undefeated team in the program’s history, was the first team to capture the Beast of East title, and topped off the season with a PA State Title.
Led by captains Kate Klinger, Amy Plewinski, Emily Stiles and Allison Warwick, the team captured the Suburban One League title, the Eastern Conference title en-route to their State victory. As a result, Klinger, Plewinski, Stiles, Warwick, along with teammates Lauren French, Rebecca Hannings, and Molly Robinson received state honors, including Lauren French being named PA Player of the Year.
The girls faced a number of challenges throughout the season. The team defeated state runner-up Souderton twice during league play, and notched another victory over the rivals with an 8-7 overtime victory in the state finale. In the championship game at the Beast of East Tournament, the team battled back from a 5-1 deficit to defeat tournament host Wilson, West Lawn.
At the State Tournament, the Maidens defeated Wyoming Valley West, Erie McDowell, and host Cumberland Valley to set up a most memorable state final.
The Maidens have had many successful seasons since 2006, though no team has matched the achievements of the 2006 team. Congratulations to all team members on their 2014 Hall of Fame induction, and treasured season.

Season of Dominance
The 2004 North Penn Boys Water Polo Team accomplished something that had eluted the program since 1996 – a state title. Led by Coach Brian Faikish and assistant coaches Jason Grubb and Jeff Faikish, the Knights captured the State Championship topping off a season of dominance.
The Knights produced an impressive overall record of 28-1. In addition to winning the State Championship, they also captured first place in the Eastern Division as well as placing second at the prestigious Beast of the East Tournament, which is host to the best teams from the East Coast of the United States.
Early in the season, the Knights knew this year could be special based on the fact they were undefeated and had outscored their opponents 92-45 after only nine games. The only blemish of the 2004 season occurred during the 10th game when they lost their only match to the nationally ranked squad from Greenwich, CT. Due to the combination of outstanding leadership and hard work, this loss provided the team with the spark that fueled a 19 game winning streak as they pushed toward the end of the season.
The Knights had a strong senior class led by tri-captains Sean Gallagher, Josh Kratz and Drew Palumbo. Gallagher was one of the best goalies on the east coast and was the heart of our defense for three years. Quick in the water and clear decision maker, Kratz was the heart of our offense for three years and Brendan Fanslau sparked the offense with his quick aggressive drives. Andrew Jaycox, Palumbo, Tim McKeever, Kevin Ketterer, Adam Reynolds and Kyle Kushner added tremendous depth as drivers and outside shooters. Kelsey Britton was a tenacious 2 meter defender who was able to shut down the opposing teams’ best offensive players.
At the state championship tournament, the Knights went in as the top seed and did not disappoint. They won their bracket by defeating Erie McDowell (12-5), Wyoming Valley West (14-7) and Wilson West Lawn (10-6) advancing to the championship game. The Knights saved their best for last. In a dominating performance over Governor Mifflin, the Knights jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the first quarter and eventually won the game by the score of 14-10.
The senior members of this team played a large part in the success of the season as well as those to come. They will be remembered not only by the impact they had in the water but by the impact they made on their teammates. Two more state titles (2006 & 2007) and a runner up (2005) will be won by the underclassman of the 2004 State Champion Water Polo Team.

The 2003-2004 North Penn Boys Swimming and Diving Team was faced with a monumental task. Having graduated its strongest class in years in the Class of 2003, they suddenly found the legacy of a decades-long winning tradition thrust upon them. Led by captains Brad Oglevee and Dan McKeever and head coach Brian Faikish, assistant coaches Brian Daly and Sue McDonald, the team sought the 11th state championship in this storied program’s history.
Although many throughout the state doubted them, these persistent young men rose to the challenge against all expectations but their own. From a strong showing at the Parkland Invitational to huge dual meet victories against strong Emmaus and Souderton teams, these hardworking young men proved their mettle and showed the depth of this team extended far beyond just one class.
After taking home a first place trophy from the Wilson Relays for the first time in four years, the Knights went on to dominate the Suburban One League Championship meet and then to capture their 16th consecutive District One Championship.
The defining moment of the season, however, came two weeks later. The Knights arrived at the PIAA State championship meet as underdogs, but in a grand final showing of strength, perseverance and determination, they silenced their critics once and for all by winning their second straight PIAA state title.
By extending the team’s winning streak to 241 consecutive dual meets, 32 Suburban League Championships in a row, 16 straight District One Titles and having turned one state championship into a back-to-back run, this unlikely team earned their part of the North Penn Swimming and Diving Legacy, a long standing tradition of swimming excellence.

One More Time
The 2002-2003 North Penn Swimming and Diving team, led by Coach Brian Faikish and assistant coaches Brian Daly and Sue McDonald, kept the tradition alive this season by extending their national record dual meet winning streak to 228 consecutive wins dating back to 1986. In addition to this monumental feat, the Knights won the Suburban One League Championship, as well as the District One Championship for the 15th straight year. The highlight of the season happened in March when the team captured the PIAA State Championship, the 5th PIAA State Championship in the past seven years.
The depth of the boys’ team has always been a key factor to their success. “Every year we have underclassman step it up and swim faster than anyone expected,” commented Senior Captain Brett Kratz, “This season was no different”. In total, the Knights qualified seventeen swimmers for the District meet and advanced eleven onto the state meet.
Although underclassman helped provide a great deal of depth, the seniors of the team shined when called upon. Along with Kratz, fellow seniors Brennan Lodge, Jeff Chiang, Nick Fanslau, Carter Hayes, and Jake Taylor helped carry the team throughout the season and into the District and State meets. “The seniors as a whole drove me to do my best and always led by example,” said Junior Mike Kerr.
One of the many other key components for the Knights was the strength of their divers. Coached by Sue McDonald, the foursome of Senior Todd Gibson, Juniors Brendan Detweiler and Ryan Gengler and sophomore Josh Myers battled for the top three dual meet spots all year long. The fierce competition between these talented divers brought out the best of them in the District meet when Meyers advanced to states with his third place finish and Gibson and Detweiler finished in the top 12.
At the PIAA Championship meet, the Knights domination continued. All three relays took gold and strong individual performances from seniors Brett Kratz and Nick Fanslau; juniors Mike Kerr, Brad Oglevee, Matt Bauer, Chris Salamone and Dan McKeever and sophomores Adam Reynolds and Josh Myers insured the title for the team, the first since 2000.

Josh came from a North Penn wrestling family where his father, Fred, and brother, Jason, wrestled for coach Ed Klavon. Fred was a Regional qualifier in the 1965.He later became an assistant wrestling coach at North Penn in the 1980's. (Fred was awarded the Silver Star for valor in the Marine corps in Viet Nam.) On the varsity for 3 years Josh improved steadily as a wrestler and soccer player where in his senior year he was selected as outstanding player in both sports. As a junior in soccer and wrestling he received the outstanding athlete award and selected to the Suburban 1 League. In 1992 he won the PIAA State title in the 171 weight class along with S.E. Regional, District 1 and Section 3 titles. At North Penn he received the award for wrestler with the highest scholastic average. He was a team member of team championships; Suburban 1 League, National Conference, Colonial Division and Section 3 of District 1. His senior year he won the Northern Lebanon Tourney and finished 2nd in the prestigious Manheim Tournament, won the Challenge of Champions match AAA vs AA, and represented Pennsylvania in the Pittsburgh Wrestling Classic.His overall record was 75 wins and 23 losses and his senior year record was 32 wins, 2 losses with 22 pins. He was inducted to the South East Regional Hall of Fame in 2001 At college he continued his scholastic and athletic progress. He was NCAA tournament qualifier 3 times with over 100 wins. As a freshman at James Madison U. he placed 3rd in the CAA conference and was conference champion in 1994. At Rider U. he as ECWA runner-up and then conference champion in 1997.He was nominee for Rider President's Award for distinguished academic and athletic performance. He graduated from Rider with a BS degree in finance and later from Drexel U. with an MBA in 2002. He served as assistant wrestling coach at Drexel in 2000 to 2002. Josh is employed at Constellation Energy and lives in West Chester, Pa. with his wife Stephanie and daughter Kathryn age 7 and son Matthew age 4. While attending North Penn High School, Josh participated in soccer in the fall. He earned 3 varsity letters and received the MVP award in his senior year. During his first year in high school on the soccer team, he was the only sophomore that started on the varsity team. He played on the front line at left wing mainly focusing on offense. His junior and senior years, he settled back in his more comfortable position at center halfback where he could play defense and offense. Josh played under coach Dave Rittenhouse all three years and appreciated his leadership style. During the winter, Josh wrestled and earned 3 varsity letters. He wrestled all three years under legendary coach Ed Klavon, who had also coached his father and brother as well. During his sophomore year at 152 lbs., Josh compiled a winning record. During his junior and senior years, he wrestled 171 lbs. Josh continued to improve upon his overall wrestling record and advanced to the District championships his junior year. It wasn’t until his senior year that he put it all together earning the MVP award on the team. He compiled a 36-2 season with 22 pins that was the most on the team that year. He won Sectional, District, and Regional championships. His season was capped off at the end of the year winning the PIAA state wrestling championship at 171lbs. After high school graduation, Josh accepted a wrestling scholarship to James Madison University. He wrestled there for two years and started for the team at 177lbs. both years. In his sophomore year, he won a CAA conference championship and qualified for the NCAA wrestling championships. Josh later transferred to Rider University wrestling for 2 more seasons. He won an ECWA conference championship, qualified for nationals two more times, and compiled over 100 wins in his collegiate career. His most proud moment at Rider during his senior year was being nominated for the president’s award for distinguished academic and athletic performance.
Josh graduated from both Rider University with his undergraduate degree and Drexel University with his MBA with honors. Currently in his professional career, Josh is a Managing Director in Portfolio Management at Exelon Corporation. He resides in West Chester, PA with his wife, Stephanie, and two children, Kathryn and Matthew. Josh is honored to be a member of the North Penn Alumni Athletic Association and is proud to be from the North Penn community |

Jason is honored to be inducted into the North Penn Athletic Hall of Fame. As a player and student, Jason always took pride in being a well rounded scholar athlete. During his time at North Penn, Jason was a 4 year letter winner, was a member of the National Honor Society, and served for 2 years on the Student Government Association Cabinet as Sports and Spirit Coordinator. As a Senior, he graduated in the top 10% of his class, was chosen the Most Outstanding Member of Student Government, and won the Athletic Department’s Outstanding Citizen Award. On the tennis court, Jason starting playing competitively at the age of 9. Among many goals he established, one that stands out was that he one day wanted to play #1 Singles for North Penn. That dream became a reality as a Freshman when he shared #1 singles duties and ultimately won the position outright from his Sophomore through Senior year. Jason has many tennis highlights from his time at North Penn. Among those that stand out include being named The Reporter “Athlete of the Week” as a Freshman, winning the District 1 Mixed Doubles Title with Kristina Maxwell as a Sophomore, winning the District 1 Boy’s Singles Title and being named The Philadelphia Inquirer Athlete of the Week as a Junior, and earning a combination Athletic and Academic Scholarship to Rutgers University as a Senior. While at Rutgers, Jason earned the #1 Men’s Singles and Doubles position as a Freshman and played in the top 3 his entire 4 years. Jason was a 4 year letter winner, earned All Conference Academic Honors as a Sophomore, was named All Conference as a player his Junior year, and is most proud of being named captain by his peers for 3 years - the only player in school history with that distinction. After college, Jason spent several years as a Professional Level USPTA Coach – coaching dozens of regionally ranked juniors, many at the highest level, including one PIAA Girl’s State Champion, one PIAA Boy’s State Medalist, and at least 5 Division I college players. Jason earned his MBA from St. Joseph’s University and currently works as a Certified Financial Planner for Citizens Wealth Management, the financial planning and investment arm of Citizens Bank. His current passion is traveling with his wife Melissa to soccer tournaments, tennis matches, baseball games, and Odyssey of the Mind competitions to watch his children Gretchen and Erik learn the valuable life lessons that athletic and academic competition has to offer. |

Lauren received numerous aquatic honors throughout her high school career. In swimming, she was a four year letter winner. She received All-league, All District One Team, All-State and All-American Honorable Mention honors every year. Lauren was integral part in the team’s four league titles and District Championships in 2005-06 and 2006-07. During her high school water polo career, she was a three year letter winner, team captain, and played a major role in the 2006-2007 team’s undefeated season, 31-0, and PA State Championship. During her junior and senior year, Lauren received the team’s MVP award, and earned First Team All-League, First Team All-State and First-Team All American honors. As a junior and senior Lauren received the “PA Miss Water Polo Award”. This award is given to the States Top Female water polo player. Her high school athletic accomplishments led her to be North Penn High School’s 2007-2008 outstanding female athletes. After graduating North Penn, Lauren received a full scholarship to swim and play water polo at Wagner College. Lauren was very successful during her four years at Wagner, receiving academic and athletic honors. Lauren was a four year letter winner, was named First Team All-Metro in 2011 and 2012, and received All-Academic and Honorable Mention All-American Water Polo honors. Lauren received a B.S. In Elementary Education in 2012 from Wagner College and is currently coaching an Australian Youth Water Polo team at the Canberra W.P. Academy. |
